Huawei launched the Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition, an alternative version of the Mate 70 Pro, featuring a Kirin 9020 chipset. Despite its name suggesting enhancements, it actually contains an underclocked CPU and comes at a lower price. Benchmark results indicate mediocre performance, comparable to mid-range devices like the Infinix Zero 40. The phone retains the original’s specifications, including a 6.9″ OLED display, a 50 MP main camera, a 5,500 mAh battery, and fast charging capabilities. It will be available in four colors with three storage options, but is not expected to launch outside China.
Huawei unveiled the Mate 70 Pro in November featuring a Kirin 9020 chipset, and today, the company has introduced a somewhat perplexing alternate version. Named the Premium Edition, it is set to go on sale on March 5.
While the name implies an enhanced version, it actually sports an underclocked CPU and a more affordable price on the company store, Vmall.
The listing failed to mention the chip downgrade – we discovered this through a separate Geekbench listing. The Huawei Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition carries the model number PLR-AL50, achieving a single-core score of 1,450 and 3,793 for multi-core performance. These results are quite mediocre, aligning closely with those of mid-range devices like the Infinix Zero 40.
Other specifications seem to remain unchanged – it features a 6.9″ OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50 MP main camera, a 40 MP ultra-wide, and a 48 MP macro telephoto camera, alongside a 5,500 mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

We do not anticipate this phone being released outside of China.
