Toyota is set to revive the iconic Celica and MR2 models from the 1990s, alongside new Lexus sports cars, by 2026. In response to the growing electric vehicle market, the company aims to enhance its performance lineup. The newly unveiled G20E engine will power the Celica, generating up to 600 HP for the sports variant and featuring a four-wheel-drive system. The Celica will also compete in the World Rally Championship under the GT-Four name. Toyota Celica And MR2
Recently, Toyota unveiled the G20E engine at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. This 2.0-liter engine, engineered by Toyota, will produce a maximum output of 400 HP in the commercial variant, and up to 600 HP in the sports edition.

The G20E engine showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 was presented as a fitting for the Toyota GR Yaris, where it was positioned behind the rear seats. However, the manufacturer indicated that the GR Yaris prototype was simply for display purposes, suggesting that the Celica will accommodate the engine under the hood. Furthermore, the Toyota Celica will feature a four-wheel drive system and is expected to compete in the World Rally Championship, likely under the GT-Four moniker.

In addition, Toyota has plans to succeed the Lexus LSR with the upcoming Lexus LFR. The LFR prototype has been spotted at both the Spa-Francorchamps and the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Reports indicate that a road-legal version of this vehicle will also be launched.
