A viral video on social media depicts a dispute involving a relative of Uttar Pradesh Minister Somendra Tomar, who was seen fighting with a flower vendor following a tense encounter over traffic congestion on a narrow road in Meerut.
This incident, captured by a shop’s CCTV, occurred on Saturday afternoon when Mr. Tomar’s nephew, Nikhil Tomar, reportedly linked to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was trying to drive his Mahindra Scorpio down a crowded street lined with flower shops.
As Nikhil struggled to maneuver through the busy road, one of the shop owners reportedly instructed an e-rickshaw driver coming from the opposite direction to halt so that the flower pots displayed outside the shop wouldn’t be damaged.
Nikhil, delayed for more than a minute and aided by a friend, subsequently urged the e-rickshaw driver to proceed. This request sparked a confrontation between him and the shop owner.
Moments later, their verbal exchange escalated into a physical brawl, with both parties engaging in aggressive actions, including exchanging blows and pulling each other’s hair. In the chaos, several flower pots were damaged.
The scuffle persisted for over four minutes until Nikhil and his companion eventually drove away in his vehicle.
Both parties later went to a police station but ultimately agreed not to pursue any further action.
