2024-25 Phillips 66 Women’s Basketball All-Big 12 Awards Announced

TCU’s Hailey Van Lith became the first Horned Frog to receive both the Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards while her coach, Mark Campbell, was named Coach of the Year. Other notable winners included BYU’s Delaney Gibb as Freshman of the Year and West Virginia’s JJ Quinerly as Defensive Player of the Year. The All-Big 12 First Team featured Van Lith and Quinerly, among others, with an impressive performance from Van Lith who led TCU to its inaugural Big 12 regular season title. The 2025 Big 12 Championship will take place in Kansas City.

TCU’s Hailey Van Lith has made history as the first Horned Frog to be honored with the Big 12 Player of the Year award, in addition to receiving the Newcomer of the Year accolade as the 2024-25 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Awards were announced.

Mark Campbell, Van Lith’s head coach, was recognized as TCU’s inaugural Big 12 Coach of the Year, while BYU’s Delaney Gibb was celebrated as the unanimous Freshman of the Year.

JJ Quinerly from West Virginia became the first player in the Conference’s history to win the Defensive Player of the Year title for two consecutive seasons since Lauren Cox in 2018-19, and Baylor’s Yaya Felder secured the Sixth Player of the Year award, the Bears’ first in four years.

In the Utes’ first season in the league, Gianna Kneepkens was named the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The awards were determined by the Conference’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

The All-Big 12 First Team featured both Van Lith and Quinerly, with Iowa State’s Audi Crooks and TCU’s Sedona Prince achieving unanimous selection. Kneepkens was included alongside Baylor’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, Kansas’ S’Mya Nichols, K-State’s Serena Sundell, OSU’s Stailee Heard, and TCU’s Madison Conner on the 10-member First Team.

Van Lith ranked seventh in scoring among league players with an average of 17.6 points per game, while placing fourth with 5.4 assists per game and concluding the season with 12 games scoring 20 or more points. She led TCU to its first-ever Big 12 regular season championship, setting program records in total wins, Big 12 wins, and home wins.

In her inaugural regular season, Gibb finished with the second-most weekly freshman awards in the league’s history (10), including nine of the last 11 weekly honors. Gibb concluded the regular season ranked third nationally among freshmen with an average of 17.5 points per game and sixth in the nation with 4.2 assists per game.

Quinerly finished second in the league with an average of 3.11 steals per game, leading West Virginia to the best scoring defense in the Big 12 (54.48 points allowed). She ranks sixth all-time in league history with 318 career steals.

Felder led all Conference players coming off the bench with an average of 10.2 points per game and ranked third with 2.8 assists per game, contributing to Baylor’s 15-3 league record and a second-place finish.

Kneepkens achieved a 3.9 GPA while majoring in health and kinesiology. The junior stands out as one of only two players in the country, alongside her teammate Kennady McQueen, to finish the regular season shooting 50/40/90% (with over 20 field goal attempts).

Campbell has steered TCU to become just the second team in Big 12 history to clinch a regular-season title within two seasons of finishing at the bottom of the standings. Under his leadership, the Horned Frogs recorded a 6-2 record against top 25 teams this season and achieved the highest AP Top 25 ranking in the program’s history (8).

The 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 through Sunday, March 9/Monday, March 10 at Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center. Tickets are available for purchase here.
